What’s New
The 2022 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid are both great SUVs. Toyota has produced these two types of Highlanders in three equal trims. You won't be able to get the 2022 Highlander Hybrid in the XSE AWD trim. So if you’re set on the features of the XSE AWD, you’ll have to opt for the gas version.
Exterior
The SUV comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels. When you upgrade to the XLE, you’ll have the roof rails and a sunroof as added features. The XSE comes with 20-inch wheels, sport styling features, chrome exterior trims, and dual exhaust (in gas type only). You can choose between eight colours for your 2022 Highlander. Colours include Wind Chill Pearl to the magnificent Ruby Flare Pearl, to name two.
Interior
The 2022 Highlander is spacious, elegant, and superbly comfortable for driving long-driving extended distances. The cabin is decked throughout with soft-touch materials, a well thought out dashboard, and an eight-inch infotainment display that is easily reachable. The Limited gets leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel. Standard interior features include tri-zone climate control and a six-speaker sound system. The second and third seats can be folded 60/40 for more cargo space.
The seven-passenger XLE has additional upgrades such as heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a larger information display for the driver, and second-row captain seats and sunshades.
Technology and Safety
The Highlander has some great standard tech features. The SUV is equipped with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android integration. The cabin has an eight-inch infotainment system with an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety features are plentiful in the 2022 Highlander. You’ll get a front collision warning system to warn you of an impending collision. The system will apply the brakes in case your response is too slow. Also included as standard is adaptive cruise control. Toyota has included their Safety Sense 2.5 Suite and their Safety Connect system in all models. The Safety Connect system has built-in emergency communication features.
The entry-level 2022 Highlander gas version will consume 11.8-L/100km in the city and 8.6-L/100km on the highway. The entry-level LE AWD has much better fuel consumption, with only 6.7-L/100km in the city and 6.8-L/100km on the highway.
